When Sita kneelt
I have this habbit after mass go to the tabernacle and pray there.
And as usual, Sita will follow.
She waits beside me while i pray.
But this evening was different...
When i opened my eyes, i found her knelt in front of the altar on her own.
Such a pleasant surprise

Tawaran sebagai pendamping sukarela di kelas
bermain usia 3 tahun tempat putri saya belajar merupakan hadiah awal tahun 2014
yang mengasyikan. Sebuah kehormatan bagi seorang ibu rumah tangga macam saya.
Semua berawal sejak setahunyang lalu, beberapa bulan setelah saya pindah ke
kota Miri, Serawak. Lingkungan tempat saya tinggal tidak memberi cukup peluang
bagi Sita, putri saya , untuk memiliki
teman bermain. Setelah diskusi seru dengan si kecil, kami berdua sibuk berkeliling
kota mencari sekolah terbaik yang Sita sukai. Bukan perkara mudah, kebanyakan
sekolah tadika menggunakan bahasa pengantar Mandarin, atau letak sekolah yang
terlalu jauh dari rumah tinggal kami. Banyak doa dipanjatkan dalam tiap upaya
mencari. Hingga suatu hari doa kami terkabul, sebuah sekolah tadika dibangun
persis di seberang rumah. Too good to be true.
Saya dan suami beserta Sita bergegas mendatangi
sekolah tersebut saat open house. Langsung mendaftar dan bagian terbaiknya
adalah pihak sekolah bersedia membantu Sita dengan kendala bahasa. Saya pun di
izinkan untuk mendampingi Sita belajar hingga Sita cukup mandiri. Sekolah yang
sangat ramah anak dan mengerti kebutuhan setiap muridnya. Bukan kebetulan juga
jika kemudian saya berteman baik dengan para pengajar dan pemilik sekolah. Tidak
jarang kepala sekolah mengundang saya
dalam suatu diskusi singkat untuk mendapatkan ide atau input untuk meningkatkan
kualitas belajar mengajar sambil bermain di kelas.
Kembali ke awal cerita, saya pun mulai
mendampingi kelas bermain usia 3 tahun, sementara Sita mulai belajar di kelas 4
tahun. Bertemu dengan anak-anak dengan beragam latar belakang budaya dan bahasa
sungguh menyenangkan. Ada yang menangis, ada yang langsung merasa nyaman dengan
suasana di salam kelas, ada yang diam mematung mengamati sekitar sambil mencoba
beradaptasi. Dengan cepat saya mendampingi suatu kelompok kecil, dan guru
pembimbing utama memberikan instruksi bermain di tengah kelas. Membujuk yang
merajuk, memeluk yang menangis, membuatkan susu, membantu berlatih menggunakan
toilet, mendampingi bermain, membimbing saat makan bersama. Hanya satu kata
untuk menggambarkan semua situasi itu, unforgettable!
Semoga kelak upaya sederhana ini berbuah manis.
Bukan saya yang mengajari kanak-kanak kecil itu. Merekalah yang mengajari saya
arti sebuah kepercayaan, hangatnya pelukan, indahnya senyuman, semua hal
berharga yang tidak dapat dibeli dengan uang. Saya sungguh beruntung. Selamat
datang 2014.
